Lima, OH: With thier season on the line and on the brink of elimination, the Lima Locos came through in a huge Game 2 of the GLSCL Semi Finals with a 9-5 win over the Licking County Settlers. The win forces a Game 3 Friday at Simmons Field. The winner will advance to the GLSCL Championship series against the winner of the Cincinnati Steam and Southern Ohio Copperheads, which is tied at one game a piece.

The Locos were led offensively by TJ Losby and Cesar Loiz. Losby went 3 for 4 with 1 RBI on a solo home run and scored three times. Loiz went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run. Stuart Eisler also had a two run home run to add on to the advantage. Loiz also was great defensively for the Locos, as he would rob a Jake Fields home run effort. Loiz robbing Fields saved a three run home run that would have tied the game had the play not been made. At the time, those three runs would have tied the game at 4.

Garrick Whittle had the start on the mound and would pick up the win, his second on the year. Whittle pitched 6.2 innings allowing seven hits and two earned runs. He would also post two walks and three strikeouts. Connor Porter would pitch 0.2 innings and allow three earned runs off three hits. He did have one strikeout. Matt Vollenwieder would finish out the game with 1.2 innings of one hit baseball. He would allow no runs and post one walk and three strikeouts.

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Lima Locos dropped a double header to the Southern Ohio Copperheads, 5-0 and 7-4 to allow a three way tie between them, Cincinnati and Licking County to occur. It is the first time in the 25 year history of the league that a tie, let alone a three way tie, for first place going into the playoffs. Due to the three way tie, the Locos will be the #2 seed for the playoffs.
According to the GLSCL, "In the event of such an occurrence, the tie breaking criteria for determining the seeds in the playoffs is to examine the records of the teams against each other.  By virtue of its 6-2 record combined against Licking County and Lima, Cincinnati secured the number one seed heading into the GLSCL playoffs.  Lima will be the second seed based on its 3-4 record aggregate record against Cincinnati and Licking County.  The Settlers become the number three seed after a 2-5 season against Cincinnati and Lima combined."
So the Lima Locos will now take on the winner of the (6) Lake Erie Monarchs at (3) Licking County Settlers on Wednesday. They will travel to the winner's home field for the Wednesday game, then host the Thursday and Friday (if necessary) games.
So come out on Thurday to cheer on your Lima Locos as we enter the playoffs and look to win a second straight GLSCL Championship! First pitch will be set for 7pm at Simmons Field.
