LIMA, Ohio -- The Lima Locos had a chance to tie Cincinnati atop of the GLSCL with a win. They took care of business with a win at Simmons Field, defeating the Steam for the second time in two days.
The Locos were led offensively by Jacob Bruce and Taylor Pickens. Bruce was 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI. Pickens was 2 for 4with a run scored. Nick Kissane and Greg Brodzinski also tacked on an RBI.
Ben Taylor had the start on the mound and picked up the win, his third of the season. Taylor had a great outing as he would pitch 6.2 innings and allow only one hit on the day and allowed no runs. He also had two walks and one strikeout. Dan Slavik, Matt Vollenwieder, and Justin McCalvin would pitch in relief for the Locos. Slavik would pitch 1.0 inning, and would allow just two hits and one earned run. He also had two walks. Vollenwieder would pitch 0.1 innings and allow no runs or hits and record a strikeout. McCalvin would come in the ninth and allowed only one hit. He would pick up the save, his sixth on the season.
Lima improves to 23-13, while Cincinnati drop to 22-12. Both teams are tied atop the GLSCL.

LIMA, Ohio -- The Locos hosted the first place Cincinnati Steam for the first time this season and took advantage of the home field advantage. The Locos scored four runs in three different innings as they crushed the Steam 16-1.
Every Loco starter recorded a hit in the 16 run effort, with TJ Losby and Matt Cook leading the charge. Losby was 4 for 6 with an RBI and scoring twice. Cook was 2 for 3 with 2 walks, 2 RBI, and scoring twice. 
Jeremy Gooding had the start on the mound and pick up the win, his third on the season. He would post an impressive 7.0 innings pitched, allowing only 5 hits and no runs. He also allowed no walks and matching his season best 10 strikeouts. Josh Deeg and Danny Heim would both pitch in relief for Lima. Deeg would pitch one inning and have two walks and two strikeouts. Heim would pitch one inning and allow one hit and one earned run. He would also have one walk and one strikeout.
Lima improves to 22-13, while Cincinnati drops to 22-11. Lima trails Cincinnati by just one game for the GLSCL first place position.
Lima will host Cincinnati again tomorrow July 24, where it will be Fan Appreciation Day at Simmons Field. It is also the last home regular season game. First pitch is set for 7pm.

The Lima Locos cancelled matchup against the Cincinnati Steam has been rescheduled to Monday, July 23 at 7pm. The Locos will then play the Steam again on the next day, Tuesday, July 24, at 7pm. The Tuesday game is the new Fan Appreciation Day, where there will be concession specials along with opportunities to win prizes! So come on out to Simmons Field on both days to watch your Lima Locos take on the GLSCL leading Cincinnati Steam!

Tonight's game against the Cincinnati Steam is CANCELLED. Please stay tuned for updates on when the game will be rescheduled. Come on out to Simmons Field on Tuesday, July 24th to watch the Lima Locos take on the Cincinnati Steam starting at 7pm.

We will be honoring our fans at this game by holding a Fan Appreciation Day. At the game, attendees will enjoy specials at the concession stand as well as prize giveaways throughout the night!

Specials include:

  • $1.50 small hotdog and pop
  • 1st 100 fans into the game will receive a Locos coozie
  • Extra prizes and giveaways during 50/50

The Lima Locos players will also be signing autographs after the game. 

Don't forget to wear your Locos gear! Fans that wear orange or blue will receive a discounted ticket price as they enter the field.
