Lima, OH- The Lima Locos defeated rival Grand Lake 11-5 to clinch the North Division! The Locos look to have the overall number two seed in the GLSCL tournament and will have a first round bye.

The Locos started early and continued to drive home runs as they would defeat the Mariners in the last home game of the season. Dustin Dunlop (4 for 5) and Will Arnold (3 for 5) would lead the way for the Locos. Dunlop would have a double and a triple.  Andy Chriscaden had a two run home run and T.J. McManus had a double that would bring in three runs.

Adam Tyson had the start on the mound and pitched 4.2 innings of six hit baseball with three earned runs. He would post four strikeouts and one walk. Travis Kottenbrock, Josh Vandemark, and Ethan McKenny would all pitch in relief. Kottenbrock pitched 1.1 inning and would allow no hits or runs. He would also pick up the win, his first of the season (1-0). Vandemark and McKenny would each pitch one inning. Vandemark allowed one hit, no runs, and had two strikeouts and walks. McKenny allowed two earned runs of three hits and had one strikeout and walk.

The game ended after eight complete innings as the lights went out for the second time this season. The Locos will be on the road to close out their season, with another contest against Grand Lake this Friday in Celina and then finishing out the season with a double header in Canton versus the Stark County Terriers.

The newest national collegiate league rankings are out, and the Locos are in the top 25! Lima comes in at #22 this week in the Perfect Game's top 25 Summer League Teams rankings, with a record of 20-11. This is the first time this season the Locos have been in the top 25. Also receiving votes from the GLSCL was the Cincinnati Steam, who sit just outside the top 25. The Locos have just 11 games left before the GLSCL playoffs begin.

Lima, OH- The Locos returned to play after the All Star break with a split in a double header with Lake Erie. The Locos won the first game 11-1, but lost the second game 9-2.

A eight run fifth inning helped the Locos prevail in a close 2-1 game. Dustin Dunlop and T.J. McManus both had home runs in the game. Will Arnold, Connor Hudnall, and Matt Morse each had a double. Catlan Kendrick started on the mound and pitched two innings allowing just one hit and one unearned run. Taylor Braun and Eric Kartman would come and pitch in relief, each allowing just one hit. Braun would pick up the win and have four strikeouts, while Kartman had three.

In game two the Locos were unable to really get anything started as they fell 9-2. Matt Morse would lead the Locos in hitting with a triple, while Connor Hudnall and Ryan Ussery each had a double.

Zach Helewski had the start and would pick up his first loss on the season. He pitched three innings of five hit baseball, with three earned runs. He had two strikeouts and one walk. Adam Tyson would pitch one inning in relief allowing just one hit, but earned runs with one strikeout and one walk. Travis Kottenbrock would pitch two innings and allow three hits with three runs (two earned). He would notch three strikeouts and two walks. Ethan McKenny would finish the game with three innings of just two hit baseball. He would also post two strikeouts.

Lima continues to lead the North Division and the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate Baseball League with a 18-11 record. The Locos host Licking County tonight at Simmons Field. First Pitch is at 7:00.

The players selected for the 2011 Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League All-Star Game has been announced. Seven Locos will be playing in the All-Star Game.

Congratulations to these seven Locos for being selected to the All-Star Team! The All Star Game will be at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio this Wednesday, July 13. First pitch is set at 6:00 PM Eastern Time.

It was a tough weekend for the Locos as they would go 1-3, picking up thier only win at home on Saturday, a 14-0 demolishing of rival Grand Lake. On Friday Lima was clobbered by Licking County 15-3, and was swept by Southern Ohio Sunday, 6-3 and 13-1.

Against Licking County Garrett Black, Harry Clark and Cesar Loiz led the way in batting for the Locos, but a nine run inning by the Settlers would prove to be the downfall. Mike O'Neal had the start and picked up the loss. He would allow eight runs off of nine hits, only two of which were earned. He would also have three strikeouts and one walk. Travis Kottenbrock and Eric Kartman would pitch in relief, each allowing three earned runs. Kottenbrock had one strikeout and Kartman had three.

At home against Grand Lake the Locos took out their frustration on Grand Lake. Andy Chriscaden and Dustin Dunlop would both hit home runs and Kyle Niermann would have a triple to lead the way for the Locos. Catlan Kendrick had the start and picked up the win as well. He only allowed five hits and had six strikeouts and one walk Drew Williams and Connor Hudnall would both pitch an inning in relief. Williams struck out three and only walked one. Hudnall would have one strikeout as well. Neither would allow any hits.

The Locos would be swept however by Southern Ohio the next day. In game one, the Copperheads had a six run third inning that proved to be the difference in a 6-3 win. Andy Chriscaden and Ryan Ussery led the way in batting. Luke Bushur had the start and picked up the loss. He allowed six hits with six runs (only one earned) and had two strikeouts and one walk. Travis Kottenbrock pitched in relief and only allowed one hit.

Game two saw the Copperheads take control early in route to a 13-1 smackdown on Lima. George Roberts and Kyle Niermann would have the only two hits for the Locos. Niermann had a double. The Locos saw five different pitcher take the mound. Josh Vandemark had the start and picked up the loss. He allowed five hits with six runs, five earned. He had two strikeouts and three walks. Jon Weaver would allow four hits with three runs, two of which were earned, along with one strikeout and walk. Ethan McKenny would allow only three hits with no runs and would have three strikeouts. Zach Sterling allowed four hits and four earned runs with one strikeout and walk. Will Arnold would also pitch in relief and allow no hits or runs and had one strikout.

The Locos still hold a 3.5 game lead over Licking County for the North Division. Lima hosts Lake Erie tonight at Simmons Field. First pitch will be at 7:00.
