Locos sweep double header with Anderson Servants - Clinch regular season title
All the Locos needed to do was win one game of the double header to clinch the Great Lakes League regular season title and the number 1 seed in the upcoming tournament. However, this team continually goes above and beyond and today was not an exception as they swept the double header from the Servants.
Game 1-
In game one Chris Rearick got the start for the Locos and threw a solid 5 innings surrendering only 1 run on 3 hits striking out 4 and walking 3. Kolby Wood came in and threw 2 shut-out innings to slam the door and seal the 6-1 win and the Locos #1 seed. Rearick collected the win for Lima besting his record to 2-1 on the season.
Anderson scored their only run in the first inning when Terrell Jones tripled and came in to score on a Rearick wild pitch. However, Lima came out in their half of the first and took the lead for good. Anthony Toth lead off with a walk and moved up to second when Shannon McCormick's ground ball to third was botched. Tristan Moore then grounded into a fielders choice erasing McCormick at second and putting runners at the corners with one out. Toth would tie the game up as he came in to score on a wild pitch and Tristan Moore stole second on the play. Chirs Sosebee then continued his offensive tear with an rbi single up the middle that scored Moore giving the Locos a 2-1 lead.
The Locos would tack on two more in the third taking advantage of two walks two stolen bases and two errors making the score 4-1. The final two runs of the game would come in the 5th. Tristan Moore lead off with a single and stole second. Then Mr. Clutch, Chris Sosebee stepped up and added another rbi with his double. Lima would tack on their final run of the game when J.D. Ashbrook doubled in Sosebee making it 6-1.
Game 2 -
In game 2 Lima got more good pitching from starter Bobby Brosnahan, and relivers Patrick Mulligan and Brad Long. Brosnahan worked 5 strong innings giving up only 2 runs on 5 scatterd hits while striking out 4 and walking 1. Mulligan would work 3 scoreless innings in relief striking out 1 and walking 2. Brad Long worked a perfect 1-2-3 9th to collect his first save of the season.
Kent Myer had a big game offensively for the Locos going 2-4 with 2 runs and 2 rbi's. Myer did this on an rbi double in the 5th and a solo hom run in the 7th. Ryan Bridges also had a great day at the plate going 2-4 with 2 runs scored.
