First round pick Chad Jenkins signs big league deal

The former Loco right-hander, Chad Jenkins (Kennesaw State University) was selected 20th overall in the first round of the 2009 MLB draft and has officially signed his contract. The righty received a $1.359 million dollar signing bonus and will now report to the Blue Jays instructional league.

Jenkins was a two-year standout for the Locos. In his final year as a Loco, 2008, Jenkins garnerd GLSCL first-team honors while putting up great numbers. Jenkins was 3-1 with a 2.11 ERA over 47 innings of work Jenkins struck out 36 while walking only 6.
