Lima, OH- After nine games in seven days, the Locos ended on a positive note, beating rival Grand Lake 5-2. It is the first time Lima has defeated Grand Lake at home this year. Lima finishes the home stand with an 8-1 record.
The Locos came into the game on an explosive hit streak and would continue in the final game of thier long home stand. In the fifth inning George Roberts got on base by an error and Andy Chriscaden would single. Will Arnold and Connor Hudnall would both have RBI singles to bring them in and take a 2-0 lead.
In the sixth inning the Locos would score two more runs as Andy Chriscaden would hit a double to bring home Dustin Dunlop (single) and an error would bring Taylor Pickens in as well to take a 4-0 lead. In the seventh the Mariners would have two runs as well to cut the lead in half for Lima at 4-2. But an RBI single for Dunlop in the eighth to bring home Matt Morse would add insurance and the Locos would pick up the 5-2 victory.
Zach Helewski had the start and would pick up the win, improving his record to 4-0. He would pitch eight strong innings, only allowing three hits and two earned runs. He would post five strikeouts and just one walk. Adam Clark would come in relief and pitch the final inning and would pick up the save, his third of the season. He would allow no runs or hits and had one strikeout.
The Locos have a day off and will then make the trip out to Licking County on Friday to take on the Settlers. They will be home Saturday to face off against Grand Lake once again. Lima improves to 16-7 and continues to lead the North Division.
