LIMA, Ohio -- The Locos' wild 8th inning rally fell just short as they would lose to the Hamilton Joes 8-7 at Simmons Field. Lima trailed 8-2 before scoring five runs, all without recording a single hit, in the 8th inning to bring the score to 8-7. In the 9th, with two runners at second (Cesar Loiz) and third (Chris McGowan), the Locos last at bat Jacob Bruce grounded out 4-3 and the Joes would hang on to pick up a much needed win.
Chris McGowan (3 for 4) and Nick Kissane (2 for 3) would lead the day for the Locos offensively. Kissane, along with Bruce, Garrett Black, Ivan de Jesus, and Matt Cook would all tally an RBI in the effort.
Brian Clark would have the start on the mound and would pitch a solid 6.0 innings of five hit baseball which saw him give up four runs, only two of which were earned. He would take the loss, as well as post one strikeout. Chase Davis would pitch 1.0 inning of relief that saw four hits and three earned runs, along with one walk. Danny Heim would pitch the final 2.0 innings, allowing only one hit and one unearned run along with one strikeout.
Lima drops to 18-11 with the loss, and trail GLSCL leader Cincinnati by 2 games. Hamilton improves to 10-19 with the win.
